Selling in Croatia and Slovenia: distributors, retail and marketplaces

Croatia and Slovenia are two small euro-area markets with strong purchasing power, a large tourism sector on the Adriatic coast and importers who often supply the wider region. Many buyers know each other’s market, so the two countries are often developed together.

We serve both countries from our EU company in Poland, with Croatian- and Slovenian-speaking partners for offers and calls, stock in our partner warehouse in Poland and a shared CRM where you see every buyer.

How B2B buying works in Croatia and Slovenia

Buyers include importers and distributors in Zagreb, Split, Ljubljana and Maribor, wholesalers that supply independent shops, retail chains, online retailers, hotels and tourism suppliers on the coast, and public bodies buying through tenders. Some importers also sell to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia and other neighbouring markets.

Slovenian buyers usually expect documents, quality and delivery dates to be exact, much like buyers in Austria. Croatian demand is strongly shaped by tourism: hotels, campsites and coastal shops order before the summer season. In both countries, order sizes are often small, so stock inside the EU helps.

What Chinese suppliers often get wrong

Treating the two countries as one language area. Croatian and Slovenian are different languages, and consumer labels and instructions must be in the language of each country. Products need an EU responsible person under GPSR, and both countries have national packaging EPR; foreign sellers that ship to consumers may need a local authorised representative. See EU compliance.

Frequently asked questions

Can one distributor cover Croatia and Slovenia?

Sometimes. Some importers sell in both countries and the wider region, but many work only in their own market. We check both options for your category, and labels must still be in Croatian and Slovenian.

How do I find distributors in Croatia and Slovenia?

We research importers, wholesalers and chains that already sell your category and contact them in their language. You receive a short list with notes, and every introduced buyer is registered in the shared CRM. See distributor search.

Is tourism a good channel for Chinese products?

Yes, for many categories. Hotels, campsites and souvenir shops on the Adriatic coast buy amenities, textiles, beach goods and gifts, and they usually order months before the summer season.

Do I need a company in Croatia or Slovenia?

No. Importers can buy directly from your factory. If buyers want an EU invoice, our company in Poland can import and resell, and it can act as your EU responsible person under GPSR.

How long until the first order?

We cannot promise a date. First contacts usually start in the first month and samples follow in the second or third; marketplace sales can start sooner once stock is in Poland and listings are approved.
