Auto parts and accessories: selling to European buyers

Auto parts and accessories: selling to European buyers

The European aftermarket buys parts and accessories through a long chain of distributors, wholesalers and workshops, and each link checks quality, approvals and catalogue data. We find the parts distributors, workshop suppliers, accessory retailers and online sellers for your range and prepare the documents and data they need to list you.

How European buyers buy auto parts and accessories

The independent aftermarket in Europe works in layers. Importers and master distributors buy from manufacturers; national and regional parts wholesalers keep stock in many branches and deliver to workshops several times a day; workshop chains and independent garages order what the customer’s car needs. Car-accessory retail, petrol stations, DIY chains and online parts shops sell to drivers directly.

Parts buyers think in references, not in products. A distributor will list a part only if it can be found by vehicle, original equipment number and cross-reference in the catalogues and parts systems that workshops use. Good catalogue data — fitments, OE numbers, photos, dimensions — is often as important as price. Without it, even a good product stays on the shelf.

Demand is steady through the year, with seasonal peaks: winter for batteries, wipers, lighting and heating parts, spring for tyres-related accessories, air-conditioning and car-care products. Automechanika in Frankfurt and national aftermarket fairs are where many distributors look for new suppliers. Accessories such as mats, covers, organisers and phone holders follow retail seasons and Christmas gifting.

Chinese suppliers fail when regulated parts have no type approval or E-mark, when catalogue data is missing or wrong, and when warranty claims cannot be handled in Europe. They succeed with consistent quality, complete approvals, accurate data and a European partner who handles claims and small urgent orders. This is what we prepare before we contact buyers.

Frequently asked questions

What certificates do auto parts need to export to Europe?

It depends on the part. Safety-related parts such as lamps, mirrors, brake components and glazing need approval under UN regulations with an E-mark, or EU type approval. Most accessories need GPSR documents and an EU economic operator on the packaging. Buyers often also ask for a quality certificate such as IATF 16949 or ISO 9001.

Do all car parts need an E-mark?

No. Only parts covered by specific UN regulations or EU approval rules need it. Many mechanical parts, such as filters or suspension parts, are sold without an E-mark, but buyers expect test reports and accurate cross-references. Fitting non-approved lighting or other regulated parts can make a car illegal on the road.

Why do distributors ask for catalogue data?

Because workshops search for parts by vehicle and OE number. If your part is not in the distributor’s catalogue with correct fitments, it will not be sold. We help you prepare this data before we offer your range.

How do we find auto parts distributors in Europe?

We search and qualify them for you: importers, parts wholesalers, workshop chains and accessory retailers in Poland, Germany and nearby countries. We check their range, size and payment record and introduce the suitable ones. You see every contact in the CRM report.

Who handles warranty claims in Europe?

Buyers need a European partner for claims. We receive and check returned parts in Poland, report the cause to you and agree on replacement or credit, so claims do not stop the business.

Can we sell under a distributor’s private label?

Yes, many European parts brands source this way. The contract must say who holds approvals and technical files and whose name is on the part. We help you agree this before production.
