Selling in Romania: distributors, retail and marketplaces

Romania is one of the fast-growing markets of the EU, with a strong online channel led by eMAG, a growing network of retail chains and many wholesalers that supply independent shops across the country.

We serve Romania from our EU company in Poland, with Romanian-speaking partners for offers and calls, stock in our partner warehouse in Poland and a shared CRM where you see every buyer.

How B2B buying works in Romania

Romanian buyers include importers and distributors, regional wholesalers, retail chains, online retailers and eMAG marketplace sellers, and companies and public bodies buying through tenders. Many importers buy from China and Turkey, and some also supply neighbouring markets.

Price matters a lot, and buyers look for a good balance between price and quality. Online sales play a large role, so many buyers ask early whether a product can be listed on eMAG and whether stock is available inside the EU for fast delivery.

What Chinese suppliers often get wrong

Assuming that a low price is enough. Romanian buyers increasingly ask for EU documents, Romanian labels and a seller who can deliver small lots quickly. Consumer labels and instructions must be in Romanian, products need an EU responsible person under GPSR, and packaging EPR must be in order. See EU compliance.

How we approach Romania

From our base in Poland we research importers, wholesalers and chains in your category and contact them in Romanian with native-speaking partners. Buyers can order directly from your factory under contracts in your name, or smaller lots from stock in Poland. Every introduced buyer is registered in the shared CRM. For consumer sales we can list your products on eMAG from our EU company.

Frequently asked questions

How can a Chinese factory sell on eMAG in Romania?

eMAG expects a seller that meets EU obligations, delivers quickly and serves customers in Romanian. We can list your products from our EU company with stock in Poland, so you do not need your own EU company. See marketplaces.

How do I find distributors in Romania?

We research importers, wholesalers and chains that already sell your category and contact them in Romanian. You receive a short list with notes, and every introduced buyer is registered in the shared CRM. See distributor search.

Do Romanian buyers accept English?

Many importers accept English for the first contact, but consumer labels and instructions must be in Romanian. We prepare offers, catalogues and labels in Romanian.

Do I need a Romanian company?

No. Romanian importers can buy directly from your factory. If buyers want an EU invoice, our company in Poland can import and resell, and it can act as your EU responsible person under GPSR.

How long until the first order from Romania?

We cannot promise a date. First contacts usually start in the first month and samples follow in the second or third; marketplace sales can start sooner once stock is in Poland and listings are approved.
