Selling in the Nordic countries: distributors, retail and marketplaces

Sweden, Denmark, Finland and Norway are wealthy markets with high prices, demanding buyers and a strong focus on quality, sustainability and clear product information. Buying is concentrated: a small number of importers, wholesalers and chains supply most of the market.

Sweden, Denmark and Finland are in the EU; Norway is not, but follows most EU product rules through the European Economic Area. We serve the region from Poland, with native-speaking partners.

How B2B buying works in the Nordic countries

Nordic buyers include national importers and distributors, wholesalers, specialist, DIY and home-goods chains, design and interior shops, online retailers and companies buying promotional goods. Many importers cover more than one Nordic country, and Swedish or Danish companies often supply the whole region.

Purchasing is careful and well prepared. Buyers ask detailed questions about materials, chemicals, test reports, packaging and working conditions, and they expect answers in writing. Once a supplier is listed, relationships are long and loyal; price matters, but reliability and documentation often decide.

What Chinese suppliers often get wrong

Competing only on the lowest price rarely works here. Nordic buyers reject offers without complete documents, chemical declarations and honest information on packaging and materials. Environmental claims such as “eco” or “green” must be backed by evidence. Consumer labels and instructions must be in the language of each country. See EU compliance.

How we approach the Nordic countries

We prepare a full document pack first: test reports, declarations, material and packaging information. Then we contact importers and chains that already sell your category, in English, which is widely used in Nordic B2B trade, with product texts in the local languages from native-speaking partners. Buyers order directly from your factory under contracts in your name, or from stock in our partner warehouse in Poland. Every introduced buyer is registered in the shared CRM.

Frequently asked questions

What do Nordic buyers ask for most?

Complete documents: test reports, declarations of conformity where required, chemical information, material and packaging details. They also ask about production conditions. We prepare this pack before the first contact.

Is Norway in the EU? Are the rules different?

Norway is not in the EU, so goods pass customs and Norwegian VAT applies. Through the European Economic Area, most EU product rules apply there too. We check customs and documents per product.

Do I need offers in four languages?

For B2B contact English is usually enough. Labels and instructions for consumers must be in the language of each country where the product is sold; we prepare these with native-speaking partners.

Do I need a company in the Nordic countries?

No. Nordic importers can buy directly from your factory. If they want an EU invoice and smaller lots, our Polish company can import and deliver from stock, and act as your EU responsible person under GPSR.

How long until the first order from the Nordics?

We cannot promise a date. Nordic buyers test new suppliers carefully, so the first order often comes several months after samples; once listed, orders are usually regular.
